Call for papers

Abstracts are invited for paper and poster presentations and should deal with topics in sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, dialectology, variationist linguistics, or related disciplines. We welcome submissions from scholars based in the Low Countries and internationally, preferably on research related to (varieties of) Dutch spoken around the world.

Abstracts should be submitted through EasyChair before 13 January 2023. They should not exceed 300 words (excluding references). Abstracts should be submitted as PDF documents and be fully anonymized. Authors may submit a maximum of two abstracts, at most one of which may be sole- or first-authored. From all submitted abstracts, the review committee will invite the author of the best abstract as a plenary speaker.

Contributions can be submitted in Dutch or English. Given the Sociolinguistics Circle’s orientation to the Low Countries, we would like to emphasize that contributions in Dutch are warmly welcomed.

We encourage all speakers to briefly reflect on their personal affinity with the research topic as part of their presentation.

All submissions will be anonymously reviewed by the organizing committee.

We aim to decide on acceptance before 17 February 2023.
